Mario was born and raised in the Mushroom Kingdom. There was no Brooklyn, that was all the American dub. They made up their own story because Nintendo had yet to make one, until Yoshi's Island were it was proven that Mario had always lived in the Mushroom Kingdom. The cartoons the stories the panthelet, all NOA doing without realizing. This is because Video games and the way they were portrayed at the time wouldn't be harmed by whatever background story you'd make up for them, so they thought it would be fine. Ever noticed there's no talk about that part of Mario's origin anymore? That's because it didn't happen... Sorry to rain on your parade here, but yeah.

My little sister is a fan of the Back To Brooklyn club.She even designed her own character for it ...heh heh, I uploaded acouple pictures she made into my gallery.
